Launch of the Eastern Fraud Forum

The board of the Eastern Fraud Forum are pleased to announce the launch of the Eastern Fraud Forum (EFF). Completing the nationwide network of fraud forums, the launch sees complete coverage of the UK, with a focus on public, private, and law enforcement agencies with a mission to spread information and help in the drive to combat fraud and financial crime.

The official launch event will be held in Chelmsford, at the Anglia Ruskin University Campus, on the 1st February 2023. Present will be the EFF board and invited guests.

Chair of the board, Pammi Babbra, is delighted to be heading the organisation which she describes as “A highly effective organisation, uniquely bringing the private, public and charity sectors together in the fight against fraud. It is the the culmination of hard work and planning carried out by a team of fraud professionals. We are looking forward to helping organisations in the region in combatting the fraud threat.”

Fraud costs the UK billions of pounds annually and is now believed to account for 40% of all crime committed in the country. With limited resources available to tackle this economic pandemic, it is becoming more vital than ever that organisations, in the front line in dealing with the risks and fallout from fraud and financial crime, are equipped to tackle the threat head-on. The requirement to protect and preserve their legitimate interests is paramount. The forum is one of a number spread across the UK and is run as a collaboration between professional advisors, industry members, the police, and other governmental agencies. The objective of the Forum is simple: to promote fraud awareness, to allow members to understand how best to mitigate against the risks involved, and to increase knowledge of how to respond effectively to fraud when it occurs.

The launch signifies an important milestone in helping businesses in the East of England better protect themselves against fraud. The Forum will focus on promoting awareness and understanding of fraud prevention techniques, cyber security and best practices.

Furthermore, it strives to equip businesses with the knowledge and resources necessary to be more resilient against malicious activities. As part of its effort to help regional organisations, the EFF will form partnerships with anti-fraud organisations, public bodies and leading companies from across the East of England. This all signals a promising future for those looking for improved protection against fraud and other forms of crime.
